The Beautiful PNW

A look at some of my favorite spots around beautiful Chilliwack, BC .

Choosing the right location for your photos can sometimes be the toughest part, we have so many beautiful landscapes in the fraser valley – you can really choose anything. We have rivers, lakes, mountains, tall grass, downtown industry, forests, fields, and flowers. Let me show you a taste of the beauty I live in everyday… lets get out and explore!

Chilliwack Lake Road

Chilliwack lake road is one of my absolute favorite roads in chilliwack. It is a high topic of conversation as everyone wants to know the secret hidden spots along the way to Chilliwack lake. I’ve loved exploring this road over the last 7 years of being in chilliwack, and the hidden gems are endless. While this road and adventure is not disabilities friendly, you do need mobility to hop, jump, climb over, and park in weird and off-road spots – it is well worth the journey if you’re up for it!!

Hope Waterfall

Just inside the borders of beautiful Hope, BC is an amazing water fall. I know Bridal Falls gets a lot of hype around here, but its nothing on this Hope waterfall. You can shower in it, climb right in. The walk is moderate, with one minor incline – I’ve done this ‘Hike’ with my 6 year old in tow and crushed it in 15 minutes. The path is well taken care of, and definitely worth the drive and walk to see the massive beauty. The forest surrounding this waterfall is one of the most beautiful old growth forests, and quiet most days as its not as well known. I’ve been full on nude in these woods for boudoir photos, and no one has passed me by. The photo opportunities are endless!

Cheam Wetlands

Cheam wetlands has a gorgeous little trail, and multiple bridges/decks/overlooks of the wetlands that are great anytime of year. Infact, you often see folks skating on this wetland in january when it gets cold enough to ice over. The mountain and water views in any season are bright and colorful and this spot is often very calm and peaceful.

Cultas Lake

I tend to venture further then main beach, and prefer to stop at either jade bay boat launch or maple bay- but regardless of the entrance, cultas lake is always a great choice. Especially in the fall with all the orange fall leaves on the ground. I also love the lake in the winter, the greens and blues are incredible.

I do not recommend the lake in the summer months as it is completely packed all hours of the day and night!

Island 22 – Fraser River

Island 22 is often forgotten over the vedder river, but its often way less busy and just as beautiful. The river is more calm, and the beach is lovely and sandy. This is a great choice for those that want to include their doggo in portraits – as this is a off leash dog friendly area! There is also a gorgeous horse run, which would be perfect for those equine shots you’ve always wanted! The only hang up is that in the summer, island 22 is a popular boat launching spot – and there is paid parking in the summer months due to its popularity. This isn’t a problem for FVRD locals who have yearly passes, but its something to remember if you don’t always frequent this park.

Vedder River

You can’t talk about Chilliwacks beauty without mentioning the vedder river. It is a destination spot in this city, and calls fisherman from all over BC. It has gorgeous spots at every entrance, and each spot is different then the next. Theres kilometres of gorgeous trail from the vedder bridge, to the brown creek wetlands. This is a great accessible spot for families, kids, seniors, and disabilities. You will fight for space here in the summer and fishing months, but if you’re in the know – like me- you know exactly where to go!

These are only a few of my go to spots in the area, and I have dozens more to show you! Lets go Explore!
